Jaime FlorCruz, new Ambassador to China

In our October edition, we featured the book review of Jaime A. FlorCruz’s The Class of ’77 (How My Classmates Changed China). Later that month, he was named as the Philippines’ new ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. An anti-Marcos activist, he was exiled in China as a college student in the ’70s. As CNN’s former Beijing bureau chief, he is one of the world’s most respected China watchers.
“Padaba Ta Ka” new hit song by dwta

In our September edition, we featured the music of dwta (Jhasmine Villanueva) and her breakout hit “Santingwar” on Sony Music. Last month, she followed up that hit with “Padaba Ta Ka”. The music videos were both filmed around Bicol and recorded in Bikolnon.
Art exhibit at Museo de Isarog

Last October, we showcased the Salingoy documentaries of Museo de Isarog in Partido State University. This month of February, in celebration of National Arts Month, Museo de Isarog proudly presents Pagsalingoy sa Panahon Kan Mga Ulyas (Remembering the Time of the Wild). It is an art exhibit on the Spirituality and Biodiversity of Mt. Isarog featuring the visual meditations of the Salingoy Art Group. The exhibit will run from February 6 to 28.
Marinel De Jesus, CEO Brown Gal Trekker

We featured Marinel’s story “She put flowers in my hair” in our November edition which was about her stormy relationship with her late mother. She practiced law for 15 years as a civil rights attorney in Washington DC before becoming a full time mountain trekker. She left Peru and the Andes three months ago. Since then she has travelled in Argentina and has now encamped in Parque Nacional Chiloe, Chile.
